Comme des Garçons (French for ‘like some boys’) became successful in Japan throughout the 1970s. In 1981 saw Comme des Garçons’s debut show in Paris which created a storm of controversy for its predominant use of black and distressed fabrics. Comme des Garçons virtually invented black as the non-color of fashion in the eighties. Dace arose from the skill and creativity of designer Dace Moore. Since its launch in spring 2002, her collections have attracted a growing following. Dace Moore was born and raised in British Columbia, Canada. She began teaching herself how to sew when she became a young single mother and started constructing garments from vintage patterns that she collected from thrift stores. Dace successfully completed the fashion design program at Blanche Macdonald in 1998 and quickly gained media coverage from her participation in local fashion shows. She launched her eponymous collection in 2002 and began wholesaling to stores in Canada and eventually to the United States. Deadly Ponies-
This line represents the united worlds of creators Liam Bowden and Katie Smith. A passion for sculptural arts, crafts, and tactile design brought the pair together. From the moody well of forgotten childhood, Deadly Ponies vision integrates a world of mishmash thought and ideas drawing inspiration from the world of the enchanted forest. Each unique piece is lovingly created entirely by hand; from the selection of leather to the stitching and hand screening of the labels. Designed and made entirely in New Zealand. The Diptyque fragrances come from the fragrance capital of the world, Grasse, France. It is Diptyque’s proudest accomplishment to have never used a synthetic fragrance in developing its products. Whether they are woodsy, spicy, green, floral or fruity, they are all natural and you can tell.
Fifth Avenue Shoe Repair-
In 2004, Astrid Olsson and Lee Cotter began their clothing label Fifth Avenue Shoe Repair. Attention to detail and love of fabrics is something they honor and stay ready to walk an extra mile to achieve. The label is inspired by an old shoemaker’s shop in London that has gone from generation to generation, passing on knowledge in craftsmanship of this old profession. Since classic tailoring and pattern-making remain a priority in the collections, they named the line Fifth Avenue Shoe Repair. The duo came to appreciate this dedication to craft long before they started their partnership. Astrid took the more traditional route by getting her design degree, while Lee chose to learn the trade through direct experience, working his way up in the retail industry. Their combined know-how and divergent strengths show in the clothes, which encompass both a men’s and women’s line with plenty of gray area in between. The androgynous stroke is always present in the collections with inspiration in conserving tradition as well as breaking those same norms. Their creative focus will always lie in draping technique where the silhouette progresses through sculpting. The women’s pieces focus on mixing shapes, including voluminous pieces with more tailored lines such as the stretched-out shirt-dress made with pleats at the bottom to add volume. The designers focused on a loose evolution when creating the line, so what was intended to be a sweater may have grown into a dress. Many of the tops, including cotton knits as well as wispy jersey, employ excessively cut-out sleeve holes that elegantly follow the line of the shoulder blade. Women will love their sexy, simple tank-tops with their window-like floating seam, one of the many re-imagined staples that can easily fit into almost any wardrobe.

Harputs Own-
Where we are now is what happened before. Harputs Own, from San Francisco, takes a pragmatic approach to design, concentrating on the development of select “generic” garments as statement pieces. Their creative process leans on curiosity and experimentation in conjunction with the various influences that inform our work: how each garment ages, how our customers react, and what new fabric we find. As a result, each piece is part of a communal effort and, thus, always subject to change. The aesthetic is simple yet unconventional- intelligent pieces that can be insensibly worn. By pairing tailoring techniques and refined details with simple silhouettes each piece is complex, yet uncomplicated. Ultimately, they aim to make easy clothing that can be worn multiple ways, accentuate many different body types, and lasts over time.

He eventually withdrew from Paris and returned to Vienna in the late 1980s. The Helmut Lang brand became famous in the late 1980s for its simple but refined designs, its slim suits in black or white, its denim collection, and the use of high tech fabrics. Prada sold the line to Link Theory of Japan in 2006. Link Theory re-launched the Helmut Lang label with new designers in 2007 and has since maintained the minimalistic beauty.
Karen Walker-
Karen Walker is a New Zealand-born fashion designer with a reputation for her original, effortless and unpretentious style. Her collections are high casual with one foot in tailoring and the other in street wear. The recurring theme is taking extremes and pushing them together – masculine and feminine, tailored and street, luxury and non-luxury, dark and super-cute. Overall the label has a feeling of effortlessness. The collections all have the outsider as their inspiration. Karen Walker’s work celebrates the anti-it-girl – characters like Ally Sheedy’s heavy fringed weirdo in The Breakfast Club or Woody Allen’s persistently dissatisfied Annie Hall.

All Laura Zindel pieces are hand built and slip cast with low fire white earthenware and glazed with non-toxic low fire glazes. The images are original pencil drawings drawn by the artist, which are then printed with enamel and become a ceramic transfer. The images are then individually collaged to each piece and fired permanently to the surface. We hope they will add some personal history to your life for years to come.

Patrick Stephan-
Patrick Stephan grew up on the coast of France and was influenced by the raw beauty that surrounded him. He has been based out of Tokyo since 2000 and has since found his namesake brand and unleashed his own original designs upon a worldwide audience. Before Tokyo, Patrick was already making a name for himself by doing corset embroidery for the infamous Mr. Pearl and contributing designs for both John Galliano and Dior Couture. With his own line, Patrick mixes a perfect balance of feminine and masculine qualities to produce women’s wear which effortlessly blurs many lines of extremity. A punk feeling is made delicate in fabrication or draping, innocent naivety gets an subtle almost S&M-like injection of detail, a “girly” silhouette is brought back to form just enough to make it easily wearable by a daring male; of all the opposite can also be said.
